When I first started listening to Midnight Son once I accepted that it wasn t a true audiobook I was immediately drawn in and was looking forward to hearing there was clearly some drama I enjoy a good true crimepsychological thriller and I wanted to learn about life in small town Alaska and the Inupia cultureAnd while there was still drama it was still true crime and I did learn about life in small town Alaska there wasn t much of an ending Were we supposed to believe in the Inupia supernatural Is Teddy Kyle Smith mentally ill Did he kill his motherIf you approach this as a short audio documentary much of the story is audio recordings of interviews with some insight into native life in Alaska you ll enjoy this If you re looking for something meaningful with a clear resolution this will leave you unsatisfied

Hubby and I listened to this on one of our longer drives for Thanksgiving It was the perfect Iength for traveling over the rivers and through the woods and along the coast to my sister s house and backIt was our first Audible Original and honestly I thought from the description that it was a fictional murder mystery So imagine our surprise when we realized it was non fictionI will say that I m impressed by the uality of this production Listening to the musical interludes in the car was awesome as the bass notes seemed to surround us and lent a real air of tension to the telling I loved that they were able to incorporate actual audio recordings from the events and the authornarrator s process of investigation was fascinatingI did feel a little let down by some of the lead up for the main action Felt a little bit like click bait but it was still an awesome storyHighly recommend

I read or in this case listened to the Audiobook through Audible Midnight Son by James Dommek Jr which is a True Crime book about Teddy Kyle Smith I loved the book and give it 3 Stars which for me is an average rating but I liked the book Here is my reviewYou are not supposed to wake a sleepwalker They freak out and that s what s happening to Teddy And the reality he is about to wake to is like a nightmare James Dommek JrI listened to Midnight Son by James Dommek Jr Author Narrator Josephine Holtzman Author and Isaac Kestenbaum Author Midnight Son is a True Crime story about a Alaskan Native American Teddy Kyle Smith from the I upia people who became an actor and then a fugitive The story takes the reader through what Smith did how he escaped into the Alaskan Wilderness and his claims of encountering the mythic tribe known as I ukuns who haven t been seen by people for years It brings attention to what exactly happened to Smith that might have led to his crimes what happened to Smith when he escaped into the Bush of the true Alaskan Wilderness makes you wonder on who are the I ukuns and if they actually are real or a myth and if they are human or something else and also pits Native American Folklore against the US Judicial SystemThe book is narrated by James Dommek Jr and is his story of what he recalls and experiences while also including some snippets from recordings and interviews regarding the Teddy Kyle Smith case James does a great job and brings in some humor as well to certain parts of the book I found this criminal case interesting but even so I liked the book because it gives a little look into Native American life some of their struggles they face what life is like in the true Alaskan Wilderness and not what we see in the movies but you also learn a tad bit of Native American Folklore as well I absolutely loved the story and recommend this to True Crime lovers

Join or create book clubs ä 5 Free read KINDLE [Midnight Son] The author took what would have been a normal article and milked it into a book It was mildly interesting but frustrating The author kept bringing up whether Teddy really saw any spiritual beings and kept bringing that back to the court case It's irrelevant whether he saw native spiritual beings saw Jesus saw Buddha or whomever What matter
