Nemesis in short was a very good novel With that said it did have some faults I ll explain them later and I hope you ll read to the end If you will take my advice I m sure you also will love this book I ve never read any of Stefanie Ross work I m sorry to say we ve never crossed paths in the library I imagine that is because she s a German author and I m American This book has convinced me to broaden my horizons The Characters are very well done They are believable they have depth character and they are absolutely human to the reader You can get so in touch with them by her descriptions and the mannerism she has given them so much so that you feel you know them well enough by mid way through that you could guess how they may react in a situation that s real They are really that well done You care for them and wish them well and admire their strengths and feel for their adversity The Story itself is well thought out and executed I admire the work and diligence that must have gone into it The research alone makes it worth the risk The settings and scenarios that they face in the book are realistic and tense in places you feel what is going on and that s what I really loved about this book I don t believe in giving out details in the book I don t believe in spoilers Let me tell you this however if you read it you won t regret it I mentioned at the top that there are some faults Only one is with the way that it was written in the beginning and the rest are faults I believe with the interpretation I think that it should have gone through a 2nd viewing with another interpreter after the first I don t know how many there were The beginning chapter starts out with sort of a monstrous character dump It s tries very hard to get all the characters out and into the book fast and furious In some cases that is great if there are only a few main characters however in this book there are several The characters are introduced so fast and in such a way that it took me into the 2nd chapter to be able to place who each person was and follow along please don t let this deter you It s worth pushing through I promiseThe rest is with the translation I don t know how it was done however I think a person really fluent in English might have needed to go through it a bit before release There are several examples but here is just one Colleague usually refers to a person that you work with in some capacity usually in a relatively close setting For instance someone in your office In this novel the word is very broad in it s use and refers to any law enforcement person anywhere across Europe or even the world In some places they are referring to a main character near them in their group in others it refers to any law enforcement person anywhere Sometimes it s used for people who are not in law enforcement just a character in general that is well known to the person speaking It becomes confusing to the reader when you are trying to place characters in their proper place in the novel Unfortunately it does take away from enjoying it fully That s why it has 4 stars I really wanted to go with 35 but felt like most of it was not due to the Author Stefanie did a wonderful job I urge you to read it for yourself and push through that first chapter or two it s worth it I look forward to following her and reading of her books If they ever want a second translator to read the first translators work over I d be happy to help I received a pre release copy of this from NetGalley for in return for review Anglo Republic you ll read to the end If Haunted
